About Holistic Therapy
Holistic comes from the Greek, 'holos', meaning 'whole'. The technique is adapted for the needs of modern day stress. The holistic approach takes into account a person's whole being, not just the physical symptoms or problems but also the psychology, environment and nutrition and their effects, both positive and negative. Everything you do in your daily lives affects your body; lack of exercise, processed food, stressful working environment...
Because we treat each person individually and in the context of your own life, we can assist you to improve your health by yourself. The massage works on your body condition and the holistic approach improves your life style, such as regular exercise and healthy diet. Together, these re-establishes the body's equilibrium, known as homeostasis.
- Holistic Massage -
The massage is a technique that uses mainly hands on the soft tissues of the body to relax, stimulate or rehabilitate the whole or part of the body. The word massage originates from several languages. In Latin, 'massa' means 'that which forms a lump'. In Greek, 'massein' means 'to knead'. In French, 'masser' means 'to rub'. The history of massage is as ancient as the history of humanity.
Holistic massage is a full body treatment that uses the classical Swedish massage movements. It aims to tone the muscles, improve blood circulation and stimulate the immune system. The treatment can achieve relaxation or revitalisation.
- Indian Head Massage -
Indian Head Massage is based on a traditional indian medicine, ayurvedic system which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years. The word 'Ayurvedic' comes from Sanskrit meaning 'sience of life'. Indian families used the massage for relaxation and healing on a daily basis to present days, as well as playing a part in rituals such as weddings and births.
Indian Head massage not only works on the scalp but also on the face, shoulders, uppper back and arms. These are the areas where the most tension occurs with the modern day life. Indian Head massage commonly uses oils which helps to improve the condition of hair and skin. The treatment also aims to tone the muscles, improve blood circulation and stimulate the immune system.
- Reiki Treatment -
Reiki is a spiritual healing rediscovered by Master Mikao Usui in 1922 in Japan. The Japanese word, Reiki means 'Universal Energy'. It flows through all living things and is vital to well-being. Eastern medicine has always recognised and worked with this energy which Known as 'ki' in Japan.
The treatment proceeds with placing hands on the client in various positions to channel the energy through to the body. Client will lie down, usually on a couch. Loose, comfortable clothing is recomemded. Treatment is non-diagnostic, non-manipulative and no pressure is applied. Reiki can help you by encouraging relaxation and bringing balance to both mind and emotions.
- Ear Candling Therapy -
Ear Candling Therapy, often known as Hopi Ear Candle or thermal-auricular therapy, is an alternative practice that helps to remove irritation in ears, sinuses and tinnitus (It is claimed that it removes ear wax but I am not convinced with this claim!). It also has relaxing and calming effect in cases of stress, improving general health and well-being.
This natural therapy has been passed down to us from many Ancient Cultures, from Asia, Egypt, Greece to Native American Indians, dating from 2500BC. It is possible that the candle was used to form part of the initiation process.
The candles are made from the natural ingredients of beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St Johns Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene and organically grown flax. It works in a chimney principle, drawing any impurities to the surface by lighting one end of a hollow candle and placing the other end in the ear canal. Treatment time varies on how fast candle burns which depends on the condition of ear. Treatment followed by mini facial massage. It usually takes 45 mins to 1 hour.
